The Planting and Inauguration of the Laurel Labyrinth of Love

Following inauguration of her outdoor ‘Laurel Labyrinth of Love’ installation, held in Poppiano on July 9th, 2021, Eco-Art-System founder, artist and designer Marina Calamai will be expanding the installation to Villa Favard di Rovezzano in an effort to spread awareness of the issues of climate change and global warming.

Giving back to plant eARTh

Dedicated to ecological sustainability, the land art installation alongside the adaption of the 15th-century royal board game ‘The Game of Goose’ “ECO-OCA” within the Laurel Love Labyrinth, will be placed in the garden of the Villa Favard di Rovezzano and will allow visitors to take part in an immersive educational activity.

Measuring at 17m wide and 18.5m in length, the heart-shaped labyrinth can be seen from above. The plants on either side of the pathway are low, 70-80 cm high with a self-compensating dripline irrigation system.

Laurels will be used as the hedge for its evergreen properties and impressive colour change from green to red during season changes, low maintenance, pollution resistance as well as attracting wildlife such as bees and birds with their berries during spring.

ECO-OCA ‘THE GAME OF THE GOOSE’

An interactive installation that raises awarness on global warming and climate change

Designed for all ages, visitors are to navigate through 38 spots inside the Laurel Love Labyrinth and will gain the opportunity to learn about measures in which to reduce global warming in a more ethical way and achieve a greener planet. Each spot will have either a positive or negative impact upon the climate, and offer ways in which to resolve such challenges. The ultimate goal of the game is to raise awareness on sustainability, clean living and a greener planet.
